Unlike the South African Premier Soccer League (PSL) strikers, Selati Super Cup has goal happy strikers. This was evident last week when more than 40 goals were scored in just two days over the past weekend. Teams are eager to proceed to the third round of the lucrative 2010 Selati Super Cup Iyanongotela 6.
In the preliminary round of the Cup, Ndashe FC raised the standard by scoring 10 goals to 1. That has been set aside by the reformed Steekbok Classic FC this past weekend when they slaughtered Mawewe Shooting Stars by 11 goals to 1. In other games teams like Schoe- mansdal Junior Aces, Hhoyi Darkies and Blue Birds paved their way to the third round by scoring more than three goals. TSB's rep Kenneth Phiri acknowl- edged that teams are displaying fan- tastic football in scoring high numbers of goals. "This shows improvement in Nkomazi's soccer teams. Usually the second round is where the tournament starts to slow down in goal scoring, but this is a big surprise that teams are scoring many goals," said Phiri. Phiri also urged teams to behave well during the tournament. "The only thing we don't want are fights in games. Teams must learn to accept defeats and not blame the referees," warned Phiri. Phiri thanked Nkomazi soccer lovers for coming in numbers to support the tournament. Starting this weekend, the tourna- ment will now feature ladies soccer. Fanatics are going to enjoy fantastic football from all of Nkomazi's ladies teams including the likes of Schoe- mansdal N.V. Gunners, Amazon FC, Mzinti ladies and other remarkable female teams.
This year's tournament saw an in- crease in the male registration which was 188 compared to Iyanongotela5's 154 male teams. In the ladies category, the number of teams has not changed from the 24 teams that registered last year.
