MATSULU – Matsulu Chelsea humiliated Regional Tigers 5 to 0, paving their way to the finals of the Sukumani Sidlale soccer tournament. Tigers were thrashed in front of the fully packed Matsulu stadium last Sunday, where spectators were blowing Vuvuzelas and ululations for their teams.
The game was balanced during the first minutes of the game, but things turned upside down on the 27th minute when Chelsea’s Glen Mzobothi triggered his team’s scoring bullets. The game went to the stop each time Chelsea leading by a goal to nil. On the second stanza Tigers’ defense didn’t rest. Bongani Matjie and Boane Nkosi were mesmerizing the defense, causing spectators to be on toes as commentator Mr. Victor Khoza told every detail of the game. It is most loved by the spectators when he is calling players by names and it also keep the spectators updated about their teams. On the 75th minute Matjie registered his name to the score board after a good counter attack. On the 78th minute Chelsea’s Bongani Shabangu added the thorn to make the score 3-0. Tigers tried to make some moves but were hindered by Chelsea’s goalkeeper Battez who had no room for mistakes. On the 86th minute of the game Matjie scored the fourth goal for his team. Only 3 minutes later he finished his brace by scoring his third goal for the day and the fifth goal for his team. Matjie is currently the top goal scorer of the tournament with seven goals followed by Harry Nkosi with five goals. The game between the long time rivals, Matsulu City Movers and Matsulu Legends stopped after The Legends walked out of the game claiming that they are robbed by the referee. Surprisingly they were only one goal down. The rule says if a team walks out of the field, they will be disqualified as that shows their acceptance to a defeat. |
