MALALANE – The most awaited Selati Super Cup “Iyanongotela5” heroes’ awards were held in an impressive TSB hall last Saturday. Luminaries in the event included the Provincial MEC of sports Vusi Shongwe, Mbombela local municipality mayor Lassy Chiwayo, Ehlanzeni deputy executive mayor Selby Khumalo, delegates from the 2010 local organizing committee, the Nkomazi local executive mayor Johan Mavuso, TSB’s CEO John Duplisses and more. Making the first appearance was the Nkomazi Mayor who welcomed everyone and gave them a brief overview of the excitement around TSB’s Selati Cup.
In his key note address MEC Vusi Shongwe stated that TSB’s Selati Super Cup is the talk of the town everywhere in the province and the entire country, which makes the province proud to have TSB. So far many young soccer stars have been given the chance to showcase their talent to the professional soccer side because of the Selati Super. Shongwe Chiefs were given their R55 000 as this episodes champs, Young Tigers LTD came second taking home R30 000, ladies’ champions Real Gunners took home the R13 000, followed by Mzinti ladies who took R8 000. Everyone who played a role during the tournament was generously awarded. Young Tigers LTD’s coach Luke Mashaba walked away with the “Coach of Tournament” title worth R5 00. Also from LTD, Given Thwala walked away with the R2 500 for being the “Player of the Tournament”. Junior Aces’ Kenneth Nkosi was voted the “Goalkeeper of the Tournament”, worth R1 000. Deco of Blue Birds was awarded for being the top goal scorer with an amount of R5 000. For volunteering Junior Aces’ boss Daglous S h o n g w e was given R2 000. Vinolia Lubisi of Gunners was voted the “Payer of the Tournament”. Game teller Victor Khoza was awarded for being a reliable commentator. TSB’s CEO D u - P l e s s e s also voiced that he is proud to work with the Nkomazi community. He also said that TSB is passionate about helping the Nkomazi community. So far TSB has sponsored many Nkomazi projects, including home based care and individual projects. The sugar guru is also sponsoring the annual Selati marathon, the Selati Cycling and many other sporting events. |
