NKOMAZI – Two Nkomazi soccer giants are heading to their dream finals this Saturday. Block A Naughty Boys will lock horns with Langeloop City Movers in the finals of the second episode of the Nkomazi mayoral Cup tournament. The slaughter house will be the renewed Driekoppies Stadium.

The two teams have never met for a final in one of Nkomazi’s top soccer tournaments, making the match a dream for both sides and fans. The stadium is expected to be packed as soccer fanatics will want to witness as one team is crowned the champions of the second Mayoral Cup and walk away with the whooping R35 000 first place award. The last episode went to the Jeppes Reef Saints.

City-Movers

After reaching the finals by defeating some well known teams, the City Movers and Naughty Boys proved to be the best teams in the tournament. This revived the municipality’s hope of having the top talent from around Nkomazi compete. The clear rules of the Nkomazi Mayoral Cup state that teams are not allowed to have players from outside the Nkomazi region so that it can help Nkomazi’s children make a name for themselves. According to the Nkomazi municipality’s sports desk this year’s tournament has gained momentum compared to the inaugural last year.

Both Movers and Naughty Boys reached the finals after causing upsets from their rivals. The Movers paved their way to the finals last Saturday by beating Middleplaas Blizzard by a disappointing one goal to nil. The Naughty Boys became Nkomazi’s favorites when they beat Magogeni Try again by five goals to zero in the semis of the tournament at KaMhlushwa last Saturday.

What made Nkomazi soccer lovers to put their trust in the Naughty Boys is that they also humiliated Mangweni LTD by the same number of goals to reach the semis.

Although both teams have made some remarks for the final, City Movers coach Mancoba Fulane said that his side would not duck from the raging Naughty Boys. “They can score many goals trying to threaten us, we are not afraid of them. Reaching the finals of the Mayoral Cup is our dream that has been living for the entire years and it has come true. Therefore we can not just let them humiliate us in front of our fans,” said Fulane.

Meanwhile Naughty Boys assistant coach Walter Sibambo said that they were going to continue where they left the mark. He said that the Movers fans and the technical team must go to the stadium knowing that they will be slaughtered. “We have no mercy in the final Cup. It’s our first time to reach such a final but we’re going to make a name for ourselves in the Nkomazi soccer fanatics. Come Saturday, the Movers will be history. Though we respect them they will not win, that’s a fact,” he said.

In the ladies soccer side, the three time Selati Cup Champions Schoemansdal Real Gunners will face their long time rival Amazon in the finals of the Mayoral Cup on Saturday.
