We have noted with disbelief the reports that seem to indicate that Mpumalanga’s spate of assassina- tions are engineered in public and political offces.

What folly would drive a man to kill another in a dis- pensation where our constitution guarantees everyone the freedom of speech?

The fact that one holds a view that is different from yours is not reason enough to take away (their) life, especially when you are incapable of creating it.

From Mbuzini to Matibidi to Piet Retief there is a litany of unsolved mur-ders and if the reports we have seen are anything to go by, then Mpuma-langa has skeletons in its cupboard.

We would be interested in seeing how police attend to these allega-tions given that the hired assassin is said to have come forward with information linking his activities to certain political leaders. We are not confdent of a breakthrough though given the suspicion that politicians control vital agencies such as the police and NPA. However, we call on these agencies to redeem their image by cracking the mysteries surrounding the much publicized deaths of Sammy Mpatlanyane and Jimmy Mohlala.

We equally smell a rat though when revelations are made that a former ANCYL leader acts as conduit between Josh, the alleged assassin and the police. Per-haps it wold be proper to use as reference his earlier shenanigans when he pulled the wool over every-one of us alleging there was a plot to unseat former president Thabo Mbeki by Merrs Cyril Ramaphosa, Tokyo Sexwale and Mathew Phosa.

That turned out to be the biggest hoax and yet mystery surrounds the reluctance of the affected pro-tagonists to take him on.
