Local Athlete Needs Help To Two Ocean Marathon
12 March 2010

Local ath-lete Douglas Magagula is asking for help with his trip to Cape Town. Magagula is going to compete in the annual 2 Oceans marathon which takes place on the 3rd of April 2010, but fnancial constraints can hinder his goal.

The 37 year old father of two is aiming to run the 56KM marathon and is asking for help in making this dream come true. According to Magagula this will be his second time competing in this race. “I now know how to run the race. I’m ft and strong and also hungry for a win,” said Magagula.

Magagula started running when he was doing grade 8 at Camalaza secondary school in Driekoppies’ Middleplaas section in 1998. He is now a current member of Mr. Price club and has run many races in- cluding the World wide Comrades marathon, 2 Ocean marathon, Se-lati marathon, Loskop, City To City marathon, 3 in 1 Imperial Nel-spruit, Kaftan in Kommartipoort and many more.

“I think this time I’m going to win this race and I’m dedicating this to my children who always support me and ask me how ft I’m,” said Magagula. Magagula said that the community of Schoemansdal is also sup-portive towards him.

He said that bookings have been made for him by M.C Mncwango from Ibutho lentombi security com-pany where Magagula works.

Even with this help, he says that stum-bling blocks will be transport mon-ey and accommodation as he needs to be in Cape Town a week before the race. Anyone who would like to help Magagula can contact him at: 079 664 5544.
