Block B - Muzi Henry Makukule dumped his wife over witch accusations last Saturday. The 44 year old woman bewitched her 22 stepdaughter to be mentally retarded, according to the 49 year old Makukule. His former wife died in 2001 after a short illness. “We started living together in 2003. At first she agreed to live with me and my daughter only. Later on she asked me to allow all her three children to live together with us. I refused because she doesn’t work and she depends on me,” said Makukule. “After my refusal she started hating my daughter. Last year I was at Kwazulu Natal where I was transferred by my employer. She evicted my daughter, but my daughter came back home when I came back home also. Last March they quarreled against each other. She told my daughter that she will see something terrible if she continues living with us. Now my daughter is mad. This is something terrible she was talking about,” he continued. Makukule’s daughter started to be mentally retarded last week Wednesday. She doesn’t speak to anybody, yet speaks when she is alone. She walks all over the streets and never bathes. Makukule asked her wife to take care of his daughter, but she refused. He went to a sangoma with his daughter on Friday to determine the problem. “The sangoma told me that my daughter was bewitched by a woman I know. I then realized that my wife bewitched her stepdaughter as she hated her. I evicted her on the following day,” he continued. The man’s daughter is living with the sangoma and the sangoma says she is better as she is able to bathe starting from Sunday evening. “She is better today. She is able to bathe by herself but she doesn’t want to talk to me at the moment. I will replace her mind back to normal soon,” said the traditional who wanted to be unnamed. The man’s daughter completed metric at Mjokwane Secondary School in 2006. AAt the moment she was still preparing money to go to tertiary.
