When Thembalethu Home Based Care closed before the festive season they bid farewell to an important member of the team, Peace Corps Volunteer Serena Fuller. Serena came to South Africa in July 2007 from the United States of America. She greatly assisted Thembalethu with monitoring and evaluating numerous programs. On completion of her service here in Nkomazi, Serena received her masters in Public Health. Although Serena was scheduled to leave in September 2009, she extended her service until December 2009 to complete various projects. In a heartfelt ceremony on 11 December, Thembalethu CEO Sally McKibbin thanked Serena for all her contributions to THBC and to her commitment to serving the organization. While her primary assignment was with THBC, Serena also extended her services to the Nkomazi Voice assisting with editing in 2008. Voice General Manager Vusi Kubayi thanked Serena for her contributions to the newspaper. When given the chance to speak Serena thanked the THBC community for teaching her and making her stay in Nkomazi a wonderful experience. Thembalethu and the Nkomazi Voice wish Serena great success in wherever her career takes her next.
