LANGELOOP – The department of Agriculture and Land Administration hosted a “Landcare awareness” program at Langeloop last week.

The landcare awareness campaign is about soil, water and veld-care. The main purpose of the awareness function was to launch Mdladla and Langeloop veld improvement projects sponsored by the landcare program under the department of Agriculture and land administration.

The district Landcare Co-ordinator, Mr L. Pilusa, said the main aim of the campaign was to encourage the use of natural resources in a profitable and sustainable way.

“We want create awareness and encourage our people to use natural resources without harming them for future generation,” he said.

More than 200 local residents graced this event, including local Councilor Dimakgatso ‘Maggie’ Nkosi, CDW’s from Langeloop and Mdladla villages and farmers.

The department of Agriculture and Land Administration invested about R238 430 towards improving Langeloop and Mdladla’s grazing lands.

The activities on the projects were to fence the perimeter of the grazing land and sub-divide their camps to practice rotational grazing.
