Image AC Milan have had a bid of more than £40million for Ronaldinho turned down by Spanish giants Barcelona, according to the player’s agent. Roberto Assis, who is also the 27-year-old’s brother, told the Gazzetta dello Sport that the European champions had tested Barca’s arm with a 60million euro bid, but the Catalan club rejected their advances.

He said: "Milan offered 60million euros, but Barcelona said no."

Assis claimed Barcelona would like the Brazil international playmaker to stay at the Nou Camp for the rest of his career. His current deal expires in 2010.

"To be honest, the contract of Ronaldinho has already been touched up four times," he said.

"There is an interest at Barcelona to extend the contract until the closing ofRonaldinho’s career."
