Image SCHOEMANSDAL – At least four people were critical injured when a ‘cash-in-transit’ vehicle collided with a bakkie just outside this area.

Schoemansdal police spokesperson Robert Sibiya said “The car lost control and hit the oncoming bakkie. We are still to establish the cause that led the vehicle to lose control,” said Sibiya.

Speculations were that the car was being robbed or hijacked but Sibiya confirmed that no one was killed and no money was taken.

A bystander, who witnessed the incident, said the cash-in-transit vehicle was traveling at high speed and the driver could not control it at the curve where it collided with the bakkie.

“It was traveling at high speed as usual but this time it lost balance and crashed into the oncoming bakkie. It was scary, I even thought it was being robbed or hijacked,” said the bystander.

This newspaper learnt that the cash-in-transit vehicle was on its way to Driekoppies village, where it was scheduled to payout pensioners and other social grants.
