It has been touted as a heart breaker, match maker, money drainer, cash generator, trustworthy informer, and audacious liar. It is admired, feared, loved, loathed, mistrusted, and depended upon. What is it? Give up? It’s the Internet and it’s changing the way people interact with each other and the world.
The birth of the World Wide Web has affected many facets of people’s lives, but nowhere has its presence been felt more than in land of business. Every major corporation is striving to develop the hippest website, on-line corporations are sprouting up every minute, and SPAM is running rampant. Although the internet undoubtedly has amazing potential to catapult a business into financial bliss, there is still very little known about how to turn megahertz into mega bucks. It’s a fact that on-line commerce is a multi-billion dollar industry and everyone is trying to get a piece of the pie, but how? One of the best ways to capitalize on the Internets businesses possibilities is through advertisement. Whether someone wants to promote their products, produce market “buzz”, or just increase customer awareness; the Internet is becoming the first place to look for a creative and cheap avenue for advertising. With a little bit of knowledge and an Internet connection almost anyone can create a webpage to advertise their business. Even if a person does not possess website development expertise would be able to construct a basic website enabling them to endorse their company or themselves.
For example, Myspace.com, Blogger.com, or MSN spaces all allow individuals to not only connect to an on-line social system but turn these internet networks into big profits. Gone are the days when promotion, marketing, and advertising used to cost more than Eminem’s lawyers fees. Today people are spreading the word about their company through these free on-line communication tools and some are reaping big financial rewards. Perhaps some projects that you may already be familiar with will be doing business on-line in the near future (hint hint…Wildly African Crafts Project, the Voice, and Asambeni Tourism).
