Salute to Nkomazi Voice readers,

I sometimes pretend as if I am deaf when I hear people complaining about morality in this country, it is sad but true. Some have gone even to comparing the ruling party, contending that we were even better in the apartheid era. It surprises me because the parliament or government officials are supposed to be the mouth and eyes of the public. Contrary, when you open the radio you will hear that auditor General has issued a qualifying report (Stating irregularity).

Government officials are corrupt.

1. It was reported on radio that in North West government officials belonging to the ruling party are transporting ANC members from one meeting to another, promising them municipal work if they voted for Mbeki’s third term. Oh, it means to work in the municipality one has to be active in the ruling party and on top of that supports a certain faction in the succession battle. I wonder where we are going because as far as I know the African Renaissance was supposed to be revitalising programme for people who lost morality during apartheid. Instead its getting worse, nepotism is growing day after day. It was Ndaweni Mahlangu who said politicians are allowed to lie, what sort of nonsense is that, justifying evil…Why did we vote then when those people who are supposed to care for our needs are corrupt, are not serving the interests of the country and that of the organisation but their own agendas.

On the opening of the ANC’s recent policy conference Comrade T Mbeki defined the movement that he joined as a movement that is not a movement for self enrichment. What has happened in North West (It is happening around the country) is not what the president had said.

2. If you look at the two lists that have been drawn by both camps in the succession battle you will see that problem does not start in the municipality but from the NEC itself. That lists is about who gets what, who is a rival to who, applying the old foolish ethos that says if you are not with me you are with the enemy.

3. The forces of darkness are working especially in our politicians; they are not serving the majority of poor people but are serving their own bellies. I do not want to go on talking about those who have been held for financial mismanagement, bribes and irregularities in giving tenders. Why in the word people are never satisfied. Paul in his letter to Timothy stressed that in the last days people will love themselves and money. These are the days; it becomes a problem then because it is the community that suffers at the end of the day. Tell me, being promised a job which you do not have a qualification just because you are a cadre, you are ANTI this and PRO that.

4. It is a true saying that we are living in a poisoned atmosphere where by you have to know the evil ways of enriching yourselves, like bribing or being good to the people who holds power so that they can remember you in your need. Joel Netshitenzhe, the ANC think Tanker raised the point, about living in a poisoned atmosphere, saying that if you can search on Google “Anti-Mbeki” or “Pro Zuma” or “Anti the other pro the other” you will get more than 5000 000 different _link_s. Why, because today you have to align yourself to a particular faction in expectation for advancement. It can be tenders, top jobs in the municipality or even protection if you are corrupt.

Amen,

Regards,
Sabelo
