Readers of the Nkomazi Voice forum receive my earnest and revolutional salute. It is indeed with bliss to make yet another suggestions to this wonderful website. It is a misfortune though that Nkomazi community has less (If not at all) internet access thus very few people view this site. I am, however, positive that with time and double capacity of the youth all will be fine come 2010. On positive contributions, my proposals, amongst others, are: 1. A Monitor or Webmaster In the past week our country was commemorating the ‘the black Wednesday’ or remembering the day in which brave journalists and editors were striped of their right to freedom of speech, they were detained by the then justice Minister. We are fortunate that today we are free to say anything as freedom of speech is enshrined in our constitution. In that regard, I would like to append in the “Forum”, there should be a monitor or webmaster who reviews each contributions prior posting. I said that we have freedom of speech; however that does not necessarily mean that anything can be said.
It is of course, widely known that every discussion has to have a monitor, to ensure that participants do not depart from what we say is ethics. I am not calling for censorship but merely putting forward a guideline, especially for upcoming writers. I have been in the community of writers for sometime and that does not guarantee me that whatever I say is substantial, I do sometimes make mistakes, or say something that will hurt the other part. I would also be happy to hear a feedback especially from the editor in that way to avert departing from important information
2. Gallery I would like to see a gallery where we will see photos of especially the editorial and journalism team. It happens that sometimes I pass without even salutation because I do not know their face. I have been far from Nkomazi for long that makes me a foreigner in my place of birth often.
3. Columnist If you will call it a point of departure, then pardon me. Like reading, writing is creative art (Ben Okri, A Nigerian Poet). It can be beneficial to us ‘readers’ to read something from, say a weekly columnist. It enhances our knowledge particularly if his/her subjects are current events, it can be in any sphere as long as it is morally or ethically correct. 4. Current events Last but not least, there are events in our communities that happen without our knowledge, Patriot, if you can add that one I can really appreciate. It can give time to prepare for those events, especially to show that I am a patriot. I listen to the radio occasional and read newspapers always, If something is not written, it will hardly reach me.
Benedictions
I have used the “I” often to show that these points are not collective but they are my own. If they need corrections clarifications I will gladly come forward. Lastly, I would like to make a plea to other forum readers to make contributions so that the forum will not be dull. If something is worth saying, It is also worth written, being in the community of writers has uplifted my knowledge.
Kind Regards, Sabelo G, (alias) Signor
