Image At only 42 years old, Sipho Makhabane, affectionately known as The Big Fish to his fans, has turned the Gospel Music scene around.

He is counted among the legends of this country. More than a decade ago, he made his mark as a gospel musician. Musicians from all genres have come and vanished into the air, some even changed the type of music they were doing, but he is standing firm on the music that changes people’s lives.

He has opened another package full of goodies. His fans all over the country and beyond will be very happy to open this CD. Every song in it will indeed bless them. After years of exploring the gospel scene he decided to revisit some of his winning beats (tunes). This album will remind his faithful fans of the old good days while it gives the new ones the opportunity to see why he is still on top.

The album is the product of combined intellect between the producers and the artist. Track 1 of this album is a perfect example, it was taken from two previous offerings, it was taken from Moya Wami and Indonga, while track 8 is a real classic sound, it was also taken from his own Injabulo.

“Ngiyamemeza” is his 15th release and his third album to be released by SONY/BMG, which marks his international status. The songs boast a strong social commentary; he leaves no stone unturned as he tackles the every day issues. In this one he sounds very concerned about the problems that face people especially Africans. He believes that there is a solution for every challenge encountered.

Ngiyamemeza, which is translated “I am shouting”. The message is a disparate plea for help. Sipho Makhabane is shouting to God for help. He is tired of hearing all the media channels reporting about one thing, the consequence of poverty. He took it upon himself to be the ambassador for the voiceless.

Sipho Makhabane’s voice is soulful and an incredible instrument that the artist uses to sing straight from his heart and that the lyrics will resonate with everyone. Unlike sticking to a formula, he strives for continuous growth in his albums.

He cracked the industry many years ago with his release titled “Yek’intokozo”. Even to these days his fans are still calling him that. Now this ten track packed album is full of good gospel. Though Yek’intokozo was not his first release, before this hit he had already released two other albums namely Thum’ Umlilo and Jesu Uliqhawe. This he released between 1999 and 1993.

The beginning was not that glossy and gloomy as we see him today, dealers did not want to hear any thing from him, he brought few people whom he felt they had the potential to sing together with him, they were known as Amanxusa ka Khrestu. As indicated, Yek’intokozo was like the introduction of Sipho Makhabane to the rest of South Africa if not the world. It was the beginning of good things to happen.

Sipho Makhabane is the man behind many successful gospel artists; he started by producing, marketing and distributing Shongwe and Khuphuka Saved Group music. Shongwe and Khuphuka Saved Group are now running their own stable and rated among the most selling Gospel artists in the country. Makhabane has groomed the likes of Frans Dlamini, Ncandweni Christ Ambassadors, Khuzizono and gospel diva, Hlengiwe Mhlaba.
