DRIEKOPPIES – Mncedisi Penwel Ndlovu, 22, was laid to his resting place over the past weekend. People from all walks of life gathered to bury Ndlovu at Driekoppies cemetery. He was singing tenor for Driekoppies’ Choral Choir. Ndlovu was stabbed to death at Ntini’s tavern on the night of Saturday a fortnight ago.

A suspect in the case, Sydney Madonsela, 23, was not asked to plead when he appeared at the Boschfontein’s Magistrates Court and the case was postponed to September 25 after he was denied bail. Ndlovu’s untimely and sudden death came shortly before he could take his examinations room for a paramedics’ course on September 25.

The Driekoppies choral choir’s members were shaken by Mncedisi’s death. Mourners during the nigh vigil revealed that Mncedisi was a hardworker who always strove to develop his choir. They further revealed that the choir has benefited from his determination and commitment. The local Headman, Vusi Shabangu, condemned the brutal killing of people in the village. “I even do not know where to start because in Mncedisi we were looking for a future leader who possessed excellent leadership attributes. He was living life to the fullest and he had a rare sense of humour,” said Shabangu during the night vigil. Mncedisi’s father was speechless over his son’s death. “I was expecting bigger things from my son. He was a pillar of strength,” said the grieving father.
