Choir conductor Elias Sibiya expressing his grief over the loss of Mncedisi
DRIEKOPPIES – A member of Driekoppies Choral Choir was stabbed to death over a trivial argument on Saturday.

Like world’s famous tenor, Luciano Pavarotti who died at age 71 and was buried on Saturday, our local famous tenor Mncedisi Ndlovu, 22, now sings in heaven. He died on his arrival at Shongwe Hospital the same day his idol was buried in Italy. He is reported to have been stabbed in the chest in a local tavern in Driekoppies. The argument ensued when the suspect accused him of being mischievous. Those in the know say the suspect spat swearing words before he drew a knife from his pocket. Sydney Madonsela, the suspect who made his first appearance at Boschfontein Periodical Court on Tuesday, has been denied bail and he is remanded in custody.

Choristers of the Driekoppies Choral Choir expressed their deepest condolences about the loss of one of their members. “We are deeply moved by his sudden and untimely death. He was a singer who dedicated his work. A hardworker who always strove to develop his choir and we are at this level today because of his determination and commitment,” said Elias Sibiya aka Sporo. Sibiya is a choir conductor of the Driekoppies Choral Choir. Sibiya said the late Ndlovu joined the choir when it started in 2005. “His sole intention was to make sure that the choir is able to prevent young people from committing crime,” he said. “He was always there for everyone who needs help as far as the choral music is concerned. He was even helping at the Joseph Matsebula High School and Driekoppies Combined School,” Sibiya explained. Sibiya concluded by saying that Ndlovu’s funeral arrangements are underway.
