MASIBEKELA - African Door of Hope (ADOH) hosted a talent show aiming at unearthing and nurturing musical talent from youngsters. This happened over the past weekend at Masibekela community hall. Although the turnout was not good but the organizers were so impressed when one of the competing groups, the Shining Stars hammered the other competitors. By this, the group has earned themselves a place to cruise with the ADOH to every function they host.
The ADOH said they have realized that musical talent was slowly fading away because there is no financial support to keep upcoming artists going. This, in some instances, results with young artists resolving into alcohol, drugs and crime. Despite efforts done by the local municipality to get the database of the existing artists in the sub-region this remains zero in putting the youngsters on the map. he President of the organization Norman Sibitane stated that despite the fact that they are not financially balanced but they are determined to ensure that the Shining Stars pave their way to the top. “We are going to carry them and we will see to it that they are financially assisted,” he said. “We have invited all types of performing arts ranging from drama, storytelling, poetry and many more to come and showcase their talents,” he added. “At the end Shining Stars emerged the best,” he pointed. uring the talent show, local youngsters were encouraged to protect themselves for not being the victims of HIV and AIDS epidemic as scores of people are said to be dying of it. Sibitane further appealed for financial assistance from local business people. This organization is assisting parentless children, disabled, the needy and previously disadvantaged people especially young people to realize their dreams.
