KAMDLADLA - Three cows that belong to the family of the late Lalani Whathe of Nhlabeni section were allegedly poisoned to death on Thursday. This was reported to the local Community Policing Forum (CPF) members by the family members on the same day. The cows were apparently found lying dead with bubbles and maize in their mouths in somebody’s home yard where the maize was cultivated. The CPF then decided to tell the family members to open a case with Tonga police station. As result of other reports of possible poisonings, two weeks before this incident community members, the local CPF and the tribal authority members gathered to advise the poison suspects amongst them to stop poisoning people and animals. The issue of poisoning was discussed openly and amicably because no one knew who had the poison. “In the home where we found the cows dead there is maize and the cows ate that maize there. I think it is evidence against the owner of the yard. I think the owner of the yard where the cows died will be the first one to be arrested” said one of the CPF members who wanted to be unnamed. A case was opened but no one has been arrested yet. The police are investigating the case. |
