Nkomazi - Since Tonga Police revived their Community Policing Forum and Patrol Teams and divided the areas under Tonga Policing area in five Sectors few weeks ago, crime is decreasing, police said. Most of the charges laid in Tonga Police Station these days are small cases like assault and others. “The function of reviving the Community Policing Forum and Patrol Team and of dividing the areas under Tonga Policing areas in five Sectors is seen. More members joined our Patrol teams and they are working harder than last year,” said captain Amos Mashele of Tonga police. Mashele also encouraged more members to join the team. “We need more people to join our Patrol Team. They will not receive salaries at the moment but they will be helpful to the community as they will prevent crime,” said Mashele. Thulani Masoka one of the Patrol Team members said he does not receive a salary but he will not stop patrolling. “I hate crime very much. I even choose to never sleep at nights because I want to prevent crime,” said Masoka. |
