SCHOEMANSDAL – The Chauke and Sambo families in Schoemansdal could not believe their eyes on Tuesday. This was after the families were surprised by Sivusithemba drop-in center with many of their household needs. Double beds, microwaves, groceries, blankets and many more items were given to the two homes. Both homes are orphan headed households with more than seven younger children in each house. Both families lost their parents a few years back.

Mandla-KhozaGabriel Chauke, the oldest son in the family, having the center in the area has raised his family’s standard of living. “I still don’t believe this. Let the Lord help these people to lvie a long life so that they can continue to help the needy like us. I’m the oldest in the house and it’s hard for me to have food for the children, since I’m not working,” said Gabriel.

Speaking for the center, Beauty Masilela, who is the coordinator, outlined that their dream is to see everyone living a normal life. They especially want all children to be able to go to school. “The reason we support these kids is because they are the leaders of tomorrow. Losing their parents cannot be something that can stop them from going to school or having good things.”
